Sevastopol’s women basketball group is now one win away from advancing to the WIAA state event.
The No. 3-seeded Pioneers received their Division 5 sectional semifinal Thursday with a 45-28 victory over No. 4-seeded Oneida Nation in a sport performed at Manitowoc Lincoln.
Sevastopol, which held a 28-13 benefit at halftime, was led by Kayla Ranly with 16 factors. Naomi Rikkola added 13 factors, with Sadie Rikkola scoring 9 extra with three threes.
Mariah Cloud led Oneida Nation with seven factors.
The Pioneers, who received their 18th straight sport to enhance to 23-4 general, will play for the sectional championship Saturday at 7 pm in Waupaca in opposition to No. 1-seeded Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, which received its sectional semifinal Thursday over No. 2-seeded Stevens Level Pacelli, 61-43.
The sectional title sport was initially scheduled for 1 pm Saturday at Wausau West, however has been subsequently moved to 7 pm at Waupaca.
The sectional champion advances to the Division 5 state semifinals to be held the morning of March 14 on the Resch Heart in Ashwaubenon.
